During Lent at Arrupe College, there were held different activities that helped us refresh ourselves in the commitment we have made to follow and serve the Lord. We meditated on repentance, renewal and conversion. And then there came the Holy Week, which was a time of intense spiritual nourishment.

We began the Triduum with the Mass of the Lord’s Supper, during which the Celebrant invited us to appropriate unto ourselves the ritual of the washing of the feet by letting Christ come into our lives to cleanse us and make of our bodies his holy temple. The mass was followed by Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament as we accompanied Jesus Christ to the garden of Gethsemane.

On Good Friday, we celebrated the Passion of the Lord. Some scholastics joined the parishioners of our parish in the way of the cross that ended at the Cathedral of the Archdiocese of Harare. In the afternoon, at Arrupe College , we celebrated the Passion of the Lord. During this service, we were invited not to close our eyes on the man of sorrow familiar with sufferings; but to believe in humanity because since by so doing we become closer to Jesus.

At the Easter Vigil celebration, the usual famous hymn, the Exultet, was sung in Latin and recited in English. Fr. Gerald Aman, the main celebrant emphasized the importance of understanding the Resurrection of Christ as an event that touches each part of our lives. He invited us to let this Easter period be a time for a resurrected life.

Easter preparations and celebrations have indeed enabled us to appreciate the depth of God’s love and friendship with humankind. It also allowed us to deepen our faith and to renew our commitment. May you all who read through this brief sharing be also blessed with renewed commitment to the Risen Lord who calls us all together to follow him and bear witness of his love to the far frontiers of our contemporary society.
