Vows1On the 30th June 2018, 6 novices of the 2nd year took their first vows in the Society of Jesus. These are:

NDUWAYO Fleury, SJ - Burundi
NDUWIMANA Claude, SJ – Burundi
NSENGIYUMVA Emmanuel, SJ– Rwanda
SEMUGISHA Guillaume, SJ – Burundi

In a joyous mood the Eucharistic celebration started at 14h30 in the chapel of the novitiate. Parents and friends had come in numbers to celebrate with, and congratulate our six brothers.

The main celebrant Fr. Théoneste NKERAMIHIGO, SJ introduced his homily with gratitude to parents for having taught Christian values to their children and for having allowed them to follow the call of Christ. To the novices, he underlined that as they offer themselves to Christ they should accept to love and serve Him.

After the Eucharist, a glass was raised in honor of the new six scholastics. The ceremony was concluded by four speeches. MANIRAKIZA victor, spoke on behalf of the other five. He expressed his gratitude to formators in novitiate for their generosity, and the all-inspiring companionship that they experienced from their co-novices. He also requested for prayers in order to remain faithful to Christ. The second speech was from the representative of the parents. He, too, expressed his gratitude to the Society of Jesus. He congratulated the new scholastics, and encouraged them to keep progressing in the love of God.

The last speeches were given by the novice master, Fr Tite MUTEMANGANDO, SJ and Fr. Théoneste NKERAMIHIGO, SJ, the representative of the Regional Superior, who both congratulated and encouraged the new scholastics and thanked their parents for allowing them to join the Society of Jesus.
