Fr General at NDRMonday, 1 May 2017

On his way to the Central Africa Province this Monday, 1 May 2017, Father General took a stop-over at the novitiate of the Rwanda-Burundi Region, located in Cyangugu, Western Rwanda. Upon arrival, Father General was welcomed by the novices with loud beats of drums as traditionally done in the Rwandan/Burundian culture.

The Novitiate, Our Lady of the Wayside currently has twelve novices, six novices in each year, who are accompanied by three formators.

Before crossing the border to the Democratic Republic of Congo, the General took some time to celebrate the Eucharist with the novices and held a conversation with them. He shared with the novices the experience of the 36th general congregation. He also summoned the novices to grow in the spirit of discernment which should be characteristic of every Jesuit. He wrapped up his experience of the Rwanda-Burundi visit noting that he was impressed by the vitality of the Society of Jesus in the region, especially in education apostolates. He warned the novices to avoid being complacent with what they find, but to seek the Magis, always looking forward to being and doing more and better in relation to service and mission of Christ to humanity.
